Recently Nokia have updated there handset roster to include the 16GB version of the powerful Nokia X6, this version is without the ComesWithMusic feature, but apart from that it functions as its 32GB brethren. The entertainments based device comes complete with FM Radio, a digital camera, full web browser with speedy web connectivity and if you opt for the 32GB version you get the awesome ComesWithMusic feature which delivers tons of music straight to your phone.
Firstly, the phones 3.5inch touch screen; it is very bright and very responsive, the capacitive technology enables multi touch and the phone can be used in wide-screen mode with the built-in accelerometer. The X6 is quite obviously Nokia born and bread by appearance alone, the slightly curved back casing makes it comfortable to handle and the shiny scratch resistant facia give it a stylish finish. The build quality is also made obvious when you handle the device; it s sturdily designed with its user s busy lifestyle in mind though it maintains a certain sense of quality.
Nokia as expected have chosen to run the X6 on the ever present Symbian OS with the S60 5th Edition in place; the interface exhibits very large icons and on screen controls for you to use throughout the phones messaging, browsing and entertainment features. Nokia have provided its X6 users with a nice hub for messaging and e-mailing, both have been given plenty of attention with support for SMS, MMS and Instant Messaging, e-mail accounts from Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo! Mail and loads more can be managed and the phone is compatible with Exchange for business users.
The OSS web browser offers up a pretty good browsing experience and is serviced nicely by reliable 3G and Wi Fi web connections, the phone has great support for social networking to with a dedicated Contacts Bar which lets you check out the latest events and friends status s from your home screen, sites like Twitter, Facebook and Bebo are all compatible, you can also manage all of your online accounts from the palm of your hand with full SNS compatibility. The Camera has a 5 mega pixel digital lens and some brilliant Carl Zeiss optics, it sports dual LED flash and auto focus, it is capable of very good video recordings and shoots at 30 frames per second, the flash doubles up as a scene light when shooting in low light conditions and the video player will manage nHD videos at 30 frames per second.
The Nokia X6 has been centred around entertainment so the music player is very good and can comfortably handle multiple file types aside from the obvious mp3 and wav, Nokia have also kitted out the X6 with ComesWithMusic which is a free music store which will supply you with all of your favourite tunes from the biggest artists from around the world. Nokia have also given the X6 access to the Ovi Music Store and Ovi Store for additional downloadable music, apps, themes and wallpapers.
The Nokia X6 is an entertainment focused device with SNS and web browsing support to rival any of its closest competitors, the screen is capacitive so it offers multi touch functionality and the camera will do as a camera of this quality should. Nokia have designed a very strong contender in the Smartphone market with the X6 and should fair well in unit sales come the end of the year.
